THURSDAY EVENING: (Six Shrine Centers per parade) BYRON:The formation area will be at the Elementary School and proceed directly to the Middle School for dispersal. Both schools provide adequate parking, and if we decide on an Oasis, attempts will be made to do so in the Cafeteria of the Middle School. The route is 1.1 miles, straight, and with only one exception, is a wide street with no barriers. There is one ‘bump’ on the route which will be identified to units. This is almost exclusively a residential area and has been used for their civic parades in the past. The City will provide appropriate intersection barricades, no parking signs, medical first response unit, police assistance, and local advertising. STEWARTVILLE:The formation and dispersal areas would both be on 6th Ave SW at the Middle School on the southwest corner of the city. It would proceed north a block to 3rd Street SW and turn west to 7th Ave SW, then north to 2nd Street SW, then east to 2nd Ave SW, back south to 3rd Street SW and west to 6th Ave SW, turning back south to the original starting area. This route is all residential with few intersections needing protection. It is 1.1 miles long. After Parade Oasis: Plans are to use the Rochester Olmsted County Fairgrounds for Thursday and Saturday parades. SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN ROCHESTER: 16th Street SE: This .8 mile route is used by Mayo High School for their homecoming parades. It would start on 11th Ave SE south of Mayo High School and run west on 16th Street SE to the Fairgrounds. It ends at the Fairgrounds where many units would be familiar and housed. After Parade Oasis: Plans are to use the Rochester Olmsted County Fairgrounds for Thursday and Saturday parades. revised 06/02/2008 |
